Nuclear Fusion
Nuclear Fusion is when two protons are combined. This process is able to take place in a star because of it’s huge amount of mass. This process is how other elements other than hydrogen are made. During the process, very large amounts of energy are released.

The Birth of Polaris
We predict that Polaris (or any star for that matter) was born in a nebula. A nebula, is when a star explodes. A nebula is made of dust and gases. When this happens, a shock wave travels through this cloud of dust and gases, making the cloud shrink and divide into smaller clouds. Energy is released when the cloud collapses making it heat up. The center of the star, or protostar, heats up to about 10 million degrees until it ignites, and a new star is born.
